What a treat! Organizing the event AND doing the visual direction, marketing design and "movie" props (fake money) for a hundred people event is an amazing challenge that put my skills to the test.
The event theme was post-90s corruption richness & the cream of the crop of businessmen (which is a nod to a Latvian expression sabiedrības krējums) or of that time. In Latvia, if you are going insane, we like to say you're "churning into butter" (saiet sviestā), which is how we got the name of the event - cream of the crop who've churned into butter.
The publication tells a story about my grandmother and her journey as a postal worker in the Latvian country-side in the 90’s.
The publication is separated in two parts. In the first one I get to know the unique nature of the work and the social worker aspect of it. In the second part I go on her old daily route and capture what she saw back then.
Design-wise I was inspired by the oddities of the postal service world. Looking through the publication you can see parallels with the big numbers on postmarks, Latvian Postal service colors and shameless stamps.
