An exciting opportunity to work with a masterful singer to bring the feel of a song out in a visual form!
This is the cover art and merch project for "Smoke" by Janis Rugajs, with which he participated in Supernova 2026 — the national finals for Latvia's entry in Eurovision Song Contest.
The song tells a story about how it feels to be with someone who is emotionally distant. To be with them, without them.
The publication tells a story about my grandmother and her journey as a postal worker in the Latvian country-side in the 90’s.
The publication is separated in two parts. In the first one I get to know the unique nature of the work and the social worker aspect of it. In the second part I go on her old daily route and capture what she saw back then.
Design-wise I was inspired by the oddities of the postal service world. Looking through the publication you can see parallels with the big numbers on postmarks, Latvian Postal service colors and shameless stamps.
